Workcamp Latvia: from Courland to the first republic

This summer, the work camp will focus on Latvia's history during the First World War, the German occupation and its consequences for the Latvian state and society.

We will look at the battles on the Aa, the formation of Latvia and related events, and shed light on the fates of Latvian refugees. The multinationality and multiculturalism of the region, the role of Latvian riflemen and today's culture of remembrance will also be topics of discussion.

At the same time, you will carry out light maintenance work on German war graves together with the other participants.

We will spend the first half of the camp in the countryside – surrounded by forests, rivers and the Baltic Sea. In the second half, the camp will move to the heart of the capital, Riga, where you can enjoy city life, culture and leisure activities as a group. In addition, overnight stays in Poland and/or Lithuania are planned on the way to Latvia and back.
