Place of birth Hamb bei Geldern

Death/missing date 14.09.1943

Death/missing place Lw. Ortslaz.II Simferopol

Josef Aengenheister has probably been transferred as an unknown soldier to the military cemetery Sewastopol - Gontscharnoje .

Unfortunately, during our re-interment activities, we were not able to recover all the fallen German soldiers from his original burial place and transfer them to the cemetery Sewastopol - Gontscharnoje. It is, however, possible that Josef Aengenheister is one of the German soldiers whose remains have been recovered, but whom it has not been possible to identify, in spite of all our efforts.

Grave site: wahrscheinlich unter den Unbekannten

Note for cemetery visitors

On some war grave sites, which the War Graves Commission has established in Eastern Europe, the name marking has partly not been done yet! Therefore, we urgently request that relatives contact us at the e-mail address service@volksbund.de or the telephone number +49(0)561-7009-0 before a planned trip. This way we can also guarantee that the respective war gravesite will be open on the planned date of the visit.
